Throughout this project young people from Derby’s Pear Tree Youth Club have worked to uncover Derby Hip Hop History through research, interviews, history sessions and lots more.
They have worked with a graffiti artist to create a Derby Hip Hop City Trail…They identified locations of Derby hip hop from their research and a donated collection of Derby hip hop flyers. They then went round Derby to visit and photograph the hip hop sites for themselves and then visited Derby Local Studies Library (image right) to plot the hip hop sites onto historical maps.
A graffiti artist then used their maps, adding in logos and detail to create the Derby Hip Hop City Trail. The trail will be available as part of the exhibition which will be at Derby Museum soon. It will then be published on this website and a copy donated to the Local Studies Library. For a sneak preview of the trail look below!
