WILL aka JD. Young Person Welfare Officer.

How did you get into music?
I got into poetry when I was about 7, I did a poem for fa
thers day and the school put it in the paper. Then I got into the battle scene…When I was about 15 I started doing hip hop… When I was 18 I went to Confetti (Institute of Creative willTechnologies) and it just kind of blew up from there. I got my diploma in music technology and I got a lot of links while I was there as well.

What are you most proud of to date?
Staying relevant which is hard to do. Keeping the real essence of self.

Have you got any music coming out?
I’ve got an album coming out soon. What’s the album called? Transformation.

Why are you involved in Reppin Endz?
Because I believe in positive social change – engaging young people in knowledge through music, getting them actively involved in their community.

Have you got any memories of Derby Parks?
Chaddesden. What does that park mean to you?
Everything. My entire childhood has taken place at Chad park. First fight, first friendships, first love. It’s hard to explain but I’ve done everything you can do on that park. And going back before that I used to go with my Mum and play on the play area as well…

Have you got a favourite memory?
Ken the park keeper. When we were young he hated us and we used to terrorise him. But when I see him now we have a conversation, he asks how I’m doing, what I’m doing. He’s bothered.

Where can people find your music?

CIZZ. Creative Coordinator.
How did you get into making music?cizz
I was in care and dealing with a lot of stuff in my head, I had a lot of aggression, I was fighting. But writing lyrics was a release for me. I started taking it more seriously when I got involved in MPR (Derby based project Money Power Respect) – I thought this is what I want to do. But I’ve loved music since I was a kid.

What are you most proud of to date?
Everything, it’s all part of the process. Getting in the booth, working with someone new. If I’m progressing then I’m proud. Have you got any music coming out? Mix tape/Cizz tape coming out soon.

Why are you involved in Reppin Endz?
Because I love youth work. It’s the best job for me. I love working with young people… I think they have a lot to teach us as well – that learning environment’s amazing, getting people together. Making positive social change means alot to me.

Have you got any memories of Derby Parks?
Chaddesden. When I was a little kid, about 4 or 5
brook 2, me and my Dad when down to the little stream, the brook. He jumped over it and he tried to get me to … So I ran, jumped, and fell in. I remember just sitting in the water, lying down in it. My Dad was like ‘I didn’t expect you to do it’.

Do you think parks are important, if we got rid of them would they be missed?
I think they’re very important, it’s where most kids go to chill. It’s a big space which makes you feel secure.

Where can people find your music?

KARNAGE. Group Coordinator.
How did you get into music?

I got into music at school. We created a school anthem. But I’d always been into music before that Busta Rhymes and all that. But I just jumped on the track. I had a friend at school, she got
karnage 2shot…it was a case of mistaken identity and I made a song about her. That kept me going and then I got added into a crew, and made more music. After 14, 15, that whole stretch was music, it didn’t stop.

Why are you involved in Reppin Endz?
It’s great working with young people, hearing different perspectives and learning about their history as well, learning about their perspectives.

TOMEK aka PHASE 2 PRODUCTIONS. Executive Producer.
How did you get into music production?
I was a guitarist originally but I got introduced to music production at tomekschool…I had a look at Fruit Loops for about 5 mins and it was so complicated I left it – then woke up one day and thought, you know what, I really want to do this. So I started slowly learning. I taught myself, looked at online tutorials, everything else was just trial and error. Seeing what worked and what didn’t.

What are you most proud of to date. Any achievements or artists you have worked with?
So far I’d say it’s probably working with Shaodow. We got play on Radio 1BBC Radio 1 Extra Kiss 100 with Mile In My Shoes, Gas Mark 10, and Biggest Threat (all of which Tomek produced) and I’m producing his next album as well.

Any other plans for the future?
My overall aim is to get the best out of an artist. I hear someone singing their song, doing their rap, sit back and think, you can put this bit here do that, to maximise their potential. I’m still learning…there’s still lots for me to learn. I’d likephase 2 to get into making electronic dance music and live performance. Me and Shaodow went to Basingstoke festival… he did some of his tracks and that was all good but then he did Gas Mark 10 and the crowd went mental! So yeah Gas Mark 10 is a track I produced so that was brilliant.
